Abstract :
Automatic control of the input state of polarization has been shown to reduce the PMD penalty in a 42times20 Gb/s, 3540 km transmission experiment. An outage probability of 2.1E-2 was successfully reduced to zero by applying continuous control during 8 hours of measurement
