Abstract :
The available closed-form expression to compute the step shunt capacitance (Cp) of the step discontinuity in microstrip line is valid for very limited range of parameters. Based on the proposal of Hoffman we report a closed-form model for Cp, having maximum deviation 11% and average deviation 4.66% for 2.3 ≤ εr ≤ 15.1 against numerical results of the integral equation method.
