Abstract :
The use of the radiometer in the passive remote sensing is a very much-established fact now. The present paper explores the possibility of the use of radiometer as a tool to detect a metallic mine. A radiometer tuned to the frequency of 29.9 GHz has been used for the purpose. The experiments were conducted aiming at detecting a mine buried under soil and under plastic envelope. The results in the form of response curve show the ability of the radiometer to detect the metallic mine buried under soil and a plastic envelope. Further experiments have also been conducted to study the temperature variation of the response The results can be used to develop an algorithm for the detection of mine using radiometer.
