Abstract :
In this paper, a study of linearity improvement and efficiency boosting for parallel power amplifiers is presented. The proposed circuit makes inverse characteristic of upper path power amplifier third order intermodulation distortion (IMD3) signals using lower path power amplifier. So, main carrier power level become double and IMD3 signals are cancelled. The test results show that IMD3 signals of PA are suppressed more than 20dB for CW two-tone signals. Also, overall efficiency is improved 4% to 8% for two-tone signals. When the input signal CDMA 1FA is applied, the measured ACPR is improved 7.54dB at 885kHz offset frequency. Also, overall efficiency is improved 1.6% for CDMA 1FA signals.
