  • Abstract
In this paper, the Pade approximation technique is first applied to the conventional eigenmode expansion method (EEM) for calculating the Z-parameter of a rectangular power/ground (P/G) plane pair for printed circuit boards (PCBs) or multichip modules (MCMs). The application of the Pade approximation avoids a large number of iterations in computing the impedance frequency response of a P/G plane pair structure and saves the computation time greatly. An example proves that the proposed approach has high efficiency and good accuracy.
