Abstract :
Scattering and radiation characteristics of step discontinuity in the grounded planar chirowaveguide are investigated by a method, which transforms the radiation problem into the transmission problem of eigenmode in the waveguide partially filled with chiral medium. In the analysis, we also make use of the method that combines the multimode network theory with a rigorous mode matching procedure. The power of reflected and radiated wave and especially the radiation pattern are presented for various chirality parameters and step heights when incident wave is the fundamental mode. As a result, radiation can be enhanced due to the effect of chirality, and the step height has significant influence on the radiation characteristics.
