  • Abstract
An algorithm to derive the diffraction coefficient for a surface wave that diffracts at the corner of a semi-infinite dielectric slab is proposed. Using the equivalence principle the dielectric slab is replaced by equivalent electric currents. These currents can also be expressed in terms of equivalent electric currents in the infinite slab, two electric currents of two semi-infinite slabs and electric currents of an angular sector slab. The electric field of the last current can be regarded as a diffraction coefficient for a surface wave that diffracts at the corner. It was shown that its calculation reduces to canonical diffraction integrals, which are expressed in terms of transition functions. The diffraction coefficient has such a form that it can be used for different types of excitation.
