  • Abstract
    The paper proposes a STATCOM model and its supplementary controller using the residue based tuning procedure, to enable the STATCOM to damp out inter-area oscillations and some of the local mode oscillations, thus obviating the need of providing power system stabilizers with the synchronous generators.
