Abstract
This paper proposes a dynamic admission controller along with a measurement-based algorithm for providing delay guarantees to real-time media flows in IEEE 802.11e networks. The dynamic admission control algorithm has been designed using feedback from the channel and takes into account the requirement for individual flows. The admission control scheme is an extension of the one proposed by the 802.11e-working group. Simulation results have shown that proposed algorithms protect the WLAN from heavy overloads and guarantees bounded delays for multimedia flows. This proposal complements the 802.11e working group efforts to ensure QoS when the network is congested.
