Author_Institution :

Abstract :
The methods adopted to provide cost effective signalling systems for regional lines have evolved over many years, often out of financial necessity. Attention is usually focussed on the main line, higher speed routes and their associated requirements for more complex signalling and communications systems. This paper describes some of the recent initiatives within the UK that have dealt with the economic challenge of dealing with the resignalling of regional routes.
