  • Abstract
First, a new thresholding function based on the wavelet shrinkage is presented. Not only shortcoming of discontinues function in hard thresholding but also shortcoming of the permanent bias in soft thresholding can be overcome by using this new thresholding function. Second, since the wavelet shrinkage and median filter have different filtering characteristics to Gauss noise and impulse noise, a new image denoising method DCMW that is named as denoising method based on combination of median filter and wavelet shrinkage is also proposed. In the proposed method, median filter is used for impulse noise and wavelet shrinkage is used for Gauss noise. A lot of simulation results show that the new approach presented in this paper is more effective and predominant than other denoising methods
