Abstract :
The presented paper will give an overview of the fundamentals of laser beam-solid materials-interactions, suitable laser types and specific advantages of lasers in comparison to other manufacturing techniques. Selected applications will be described for crystalline silicon and thin film solar cells, i.e. edge isolation, high-speed drilling of backside contact holes as well as various thin film removal processes
