Abstract
This paper focuses on a new optimization technique developed on conventional tabu search algorithm (TSA) for designing digital FIR filters. The proposed technique is called multiple tabu search algorithm (MTSA). The concept of the proposed algorithm is that it employs several classical tabus to concurrently search solutions. By using the best choice from these solutions to update the process, the optimum solution can thus significantly be obtained. Moreover, to improve searching process, addition techniques such as initialization, adaptive search, multiple implement, crossover and restarting process are resented. By comparing to TSA and genetic algorithm (GA) based methods, the results of the MTS have been shown that the proposed approach provides a highly effective solution for designing of a digital FIR linear phase filter
