Abstract :
Starting from the basic electromagnetic theory, this paper theoretically analyses radiating modes of leaky coaxial cable (hereinafter LCX in short) and deduces mathematical expression of its radiating fields. We discuss how to restrain the high mode waves of radiating fields of LCX to expand its single mode radiating band based on the conditions which only single mode exists. After that we study a method of expanding the single mode radiating bandwidth of LCX with zigzag slots, which supply a practical approach of applying LCX in ultra wide-band communication. The conclusions we present in this paper is significant for the design and use of LCX applied to ultra wide-band communication
