Abstract
A useful analysis method is derived for precisely obtaining the bit error rate (BER) of two ultra-wideband systems in tone interference. The two systems are time hopping pulse position modulation (TH-PPM) and direct sequence ultra-wideband (DS-UWB). The proposed BER expressions are perfectly validated through Monte Carlo simulation. The numerical and simulation results have shown that tone interference definitely degrades the performance of UWB systems and the performance of DS-UWB is better than that of TH-PPM. Moreover, this analysis method can be easily extended to multiple tone interference
