Abstract :
With the high resolution instruments, the data collected by the space solar telescope (SST) satellite will be a large volume. Meanwhile, due to the limited storage and down-link capacity, onboard data compression is needed. In this paper, a real time image compression scheme is proposed. According to the requirement of SST and the space environment restriction condition, we adopt the compression algorithm based on Daub 4 wavelet transform with lifting steps, and designed the data compression (DCU) platform with DSP and FPGA. The interfaces and HW/SW designs are given in detail. The system tests show that the performance meets the requirement of SST
