Abstract :
A novel channel estimation method is proposed to improve the performance of highly mobile applications specified by IEEE 802.16e. It utilizes the continuity of channel variations and brings increment of signal-to-interference ratio (SIR). It is suitable to the special scheme of pilot distribution and is also practical for no prior statistical knowledge of channel is needed. Furthermore, based on cluster structure, it significantly reduces the computational complexity. The mean square error (MSE) floor of our estimator drops more than 7 dB due to the improvement in SIR. The simulation results prove the enhanced performance of estimator MSE and system bit error rate (BER) in fading channels of rapid time-variations
