Abstract :
Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) is an endemic in most of swine producing countries. An early detection of PRRS in the farm can minimize great economic losses to the farmers. In this paper we describe a rapid, sensitive and portable biosensor platform to detect the PRRS antibodies from the infected porcine blood serum. The results showed that the entire sensing was completed in 2.5 hours compared with conventional method which takes about 6 to 7 hours. The portable nature of the sensor will also enable onsite testing which is not possible with conventional technique. Thus, the developed biosensor platform can be a cheaper alternative for the detection of PRRS antibodies in swine sera.
