Abstract :
An ultra-high sensitive fluorescence measurement system composed of a highly sensitive photon counting system and a light irradiation system with a laser diode was developed. The sensitivity was thousand-fold higher than that of the conventional fluorescent assay. Using this system, we have succeeded in the development of highly sensitive fluorescence measurement systems in order to measure the subtle fluorescence derived from the human cells stained with hematoporphyrin (HP) or its derivatives (HPD) which used for photodynamic therapy. The further research for cancer diagnosis and treatment are underway to clarity its clinical significance.
