WiMax-Prospects and New Business Models

This paper looks at the IEEE 802.16 standard or WiMax and what it offers the mobile industry. It assesses on a techno-economic level what WiMax brings to both fixed and mobile operators in the market and what are some of the possible uses for this up and coming technology. The introduction of WiMax will also result in new business models in the industry and several different business model scenarios will be looked at here, as well as some of the advantages and disadvantages to users. This paper will also look at some of the possible applications of WiMax in the mobile/wireless world.
