Abstract
In this paper we discuss the application of HSDPA load control, which is required in order to preserve the quality of service (Q0S) for the connected users. We present a novel HSDPA load model, which is an enhancement of the DSCH system level model that has been presented in [4]. We show by means of dynamic system level simulations how well the model fits to simulation results. Furthermore, we discuss the load control principles for HSDPA, which can be derived from the model. The meaning of HSDPA overload will be described and it will be shown that the model allows similar handling of the load control problem for the scheduled HSDPA system as for the regular CDMA system.
