A Novel Network Topology for CDMA Networks Based on Modified Hexagonal Grid

The purpose of this paper is to present a novel network topology based on a modified hexagonal grid. The new topology has been designed to study possible network performance increase that can be achieved by changing the basic topology design criteria. This paper describes the design criteria of this new topology and presents also initial results of performance analysis of the topology. The performance of the new topology was assessed with coverage and interference analysis. The presented results indicate that with the default configuration the nominal grid outperforms the modified grid but with further optimisation the difference can possibly be decreased.
