Abstract
A CMOS DPS (Digital Pixel Sensor) with wide dynamic range is presented. Highly efficient exponential multiple sampling with variable reset voltage is used to enhance the dynamic range. Each pixel in the image sensor is composed of a photo detector, a comparator, and an 8-bit memory which is used to record the time. A 64 à 64 pixel array has been designed and simulated in 0.18¿ 1P6M CMOS technology. It achieves 14.7 à 13.8 ¿m2 pixel size at 13.9% fill factor. The simulated power consumed by the image sensor at video rate is 2.7mW.
