Abstract :
This paper presents an investigation into the design and operation of a novel high voltage, direct current (HVDC) generator. The variable capacitance (V-C) based generation- transmission system is introduced, and its feasibility for use within an offshore wind power application, is discussed. The design and operation of this machine are presented, with the aid of simulation and some initial experimental results.
