Abstract
A new identification method aimed at optical targets using an active interference laser beam for target scanning is presented. The usability of the presented method is validated through theoretical analysis and experiment. The results show that the method is effective and convenient for distinguishing the optical type of the target, as long as the interference fringe spacing at the target position is controlled to be larger than half of the aperture size of the optical target. Moreover, the aperture size of the optical target can be estimated, and its value is twice that of the interference fringe spacing when the amplitude modulation peaks in the reflection signal is going to disappear.
