Abstract
This paper describes the strategy adopted for implementation of the interconnection between the Gulf States (Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE and Oman) to ensure a competitive price for the project. This paper also describes the progress in the implementation and the issues which have had to be faced to date. In parallel, activities are being carried out to define the organizational structure of the GCCIA and the interconnection agreements which will provide the framework for the operations.
