Abstract :
Power line communication is a new network module suited for isolated systems that have a well developed electrical infrastructure. A basic PLC system consists in a set of modules which help connect the remote devices with network and telephony infrastructure. This paper describes the philosophy behind the control of a remote level control didactical platform using PLC. There are presented issues related to the hardware and software architecture that allow remote access to the experimental platform using a simple Internet browser. The main idea of the virtual laboratory application is to serve as an educational tool for distance learning and to test new communication and control techniques
