Abstract :
In wireless sensor networks, it is difficult yet important to locate the sensor nodes. Self-localization algorithm of sensor nodes can be used in both military and civil applications. A low-cost and practical approach is proposed in this paper. The hop-distance algorithm is based on RSSI (received signal strength indicator), geometry and most likelihood estimation. Simulations show that average position error is about 20% of the radio range of the nodes in a scenario where the average ranging error is 10% and 10% of the nodes are anchor nodes.
