Abstract :
A new physical principles of light modulation based on optically stimulated electrogyration effect is proposed. Such modulators are based on simultaneous modulation of the low power cw He-Ne laser light modulation by intensity, light polarization at different photostimulated UV pulsed laser fields. As a consequence the number of the channels for additional transmission of information increases significantly compared to the traditional electrooptics and acoustooptical modulators. As a basic materials guest-host nanocomposites possessing the rare earth doped large sized nanoparticles incorporated into the polymer matrices are proposed. The effective modulation frequency may be achieved up to several THz.
