Abstract :
The inscription of Bragg gratings in a commercially available, all-silica microstructured optical fibre is demonstrated in this manuscript. Gratings are recorded without any fibre pre-conditioning, by using the phase mask interferometry technique and 193 nm, 10 ns excimer laser radiation. Modulated and average refractive index evolution and thermal annealing curves are presented and discussed. Bragg grating formation was observed for energy densities as low as 90 mJ/cm2.
