Abstract :
A novel voltage-controlled commutation method for matrix converter (MC) was proposed in this paper; it has solved the short circuit problems in voltage-controlled commutations and could perform reliable commutation just based on cheap CPLD combine with simple and cheap interval detectors. This good feature is very convenient for commercialize of the matrix converter. The method was verified on a 5.5 kW matrix converter prototype.
