Abstract
Authors proposed a linear synchronous reluctance motor, which is composed of two-row coil arrangement and one back yoke. A transverse flux component and a longitudinal flux component can exist in this machine. The lateral force, which pulls back a vehicle towards the center of a rail, is produced when a primary member displaces in the transverse direction. Its magnitude is almost the same as the maximum thrust. Another type of primary configuration, which is composed of two independent back yokes of the primary and has the same 3-phase coil arrangement, is investigated and compared with the former machine. 3-D boundary integral equation method is applied to both models. The thrust and the lateral force are estimated.
