Parts of Speech Disambiguation in Telugu

Parts of speech tagging forms the important pre-processing step in many of the natural language processing applications like text summarization, question answering and information retrieval system. Parts of speech tagging has a significant role in parsing of natural language text. In this paper, we present the constraint propagation based approach to achieve parts of speech tagging disambiguation in Telugu language. In the above approach syntactic and semantic constraints are applied on the output of morphological analyzer. Here, we have concentrated on rule based tagging to achieve the task.
