Abstract :
We took advantage of the low utilization of computers available at the university teaching and operated PCs at the classrooms in a dual operation mode. The computers either serve the students in standard local interactive mode or being embedded as a large CPU resource for parallel computation. The usage of these computers on their idle time within the GRID, significantly enhances the computing power of the Tel Aviv University GRID site while requiring a minimal investment in extra resources. The implementation with standard hardware and software enables easy maintenance, upgrades and direct integration within the LCG environment without interfering with the classroom operation mode.
