Abstract :
With over 6000 nuclides of which more than 2000 have been synthesized, the information we have about the atomic nucleus for the most part still rests in the vicinity of beta stability. With the introduction of shortlived radioactive nuclear beams (RNB) as a tool to study nuclear reactions, many doors have been opened to allow the studies of nuclei far from stability. In this study, we used a novel deuterated liquid scintillator (BC537) as a neutron detector for the study of low-energy nuclear reactions with short-lived RNBs.
