Abstract :
This paper describes our approach to integrate intelligence and emotion awareness into spoken language dialogue systems. We are currently developing a system that enables the user to interact with multiple applications in a natural and user-friendly way. Here, constraints arising from one application can have a significant impact or lead to conflicts in the systems´ cooperation with the user or other applications. The system detects such conflicts beforehand and communicates the constraints to the user in order to solve these conflicts in a negotiation dialogue. Such a system however is not only responsible for rapid problem solving but also for an adapted communication of information with respect to the user´s emotional state. This seems particularly relevant in situations where the user undergoes cognitive stress.
