Abstract :
Fingerprint orientation estimation is a key problem for automated fingerprint identification system (AFIS), especially for minutia-based AFIS. In this paper, we give a review and performance evaluation of 5 popular orientation estimation algorithms with the test database FVC2000 DB1 and a platform based on minutia matching. False match rate (FMR) and false non-match rate (FNMR) of the AFIS are used to evaluate these 5 algorithms.
