Abstract
In this paper, a memory-efficient method for decoding the ternary (24, 15, 5) cyclic code is presented. The decoding method is based on the syndrome properties of error patterns of the binary cyclic code. Comparing this error pattern table with the traditional error pattern table, this algorithm can reduce a lot of memory usage. The decoding algorithm is efficient, easy to carry out, and can be utilized in some important real time applications of communication systems.
