Abstract
In this paper we propose a stacked Antenna consisting of two layers of E-shaped patches (fed/driven patch and parasitic patch) for WiFi applications. The E-shaped patch antenna is stacked over two layers. An optimisation technique for this stacked unit based on Genetic Algorithm is also proposed in this paper. Optimisation ensures that the proposed antenna has optimum performance at the resonant frequency in terms of return loss and polarization levels. The optimized antenna exhibits a cross-pol maximum atleast 16 dB below the co-pol maximum with -13.5dB returnloss at 2.4 GHz. The antenna exhibits an impedance bandwidth of around 10%. The proposed antenna can be used for wireless communication applications in 802.11b band. The optimization is performed in MATLAB and the simulations are verified in Microwave Office.
