Abstract
The paper investigates the impact of the operating frequency and of the constitutive material properties of building on cross polarization discrimination (XPD). It is found that XPD significantly varies with frequency below 1 GHz but the variations are less important above 1 GHz. The material properties impact the depolarization but an average value could be sufficient to characterize globally the material. Finally a receiver involving two standards, one in VHF band and the other in UHF, could experience different XPD and thus different performances.
