Abstract :
In this paper we propose the use of composite right/left hand (CRLH) transmission lines in ring antennas. This type of antenna presents advantages over conventional patches such as larger gain or radiation and efficiency and what it is more, the fact that the fundamental mode is the zero one. A CRLH transmission line consists of a conventional transmission line, or a right-handed transmission line, and its dual part consisting of series capacitors (CL) and shunt inductors (LL), termed a Left- Handed transmission line. The unique properties of this structure have been employed in several applications using CRLH transmission line consisting of a microstrip line (RH) and lumped elements section (LH) or distributed CRLH transmission lines. Specifically the nonlinear phase response of a CRLH transmission line has been utilized to design arbitrary dual-band components.
