Abstract
The aim of this contribution is to derive a complete deterministic description of the ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless channel where major antennas effects, i.e. polarization, frequency dependence and directivity, are taken into account. Our analysis relies on a ray tracing UWB channel model since this reflects the dependence on the angle of arrival (AoA) and angle of departure (AoD) of any multipath. A mathematical framework for the whole chain of the UWB system is given. Simulation results show the dependance of the performance, e.g. on rotating the transmitting and receiving antennas, of an impulse radio (IR) based UWB communication system.
