Abstract
This paper describes the application of the efficient implicit finite-difference time-domain method (FDTD) based on the locally one-dimensional (LOD) scheme to the analysis of plasmonic waveguide devices. The plasmonic waveguide grating is analyzed, in which the LOD-FDTD is shown to efficiently provide the transmission coefficient comparable to that obtained from the traditional explicit FDTD. Investigation is also given to the plasmonic microcavity. The resonance wavelength and the quality factor are calculated and discussed.
