Abstract
The simulation of printed antennas on cars at 100 MHz is discussed and compared with measurements. An electromagnetic model is developed from the CAD data and simplified in stages to investigate how much detail in the bodywork is required to give an accurate model of the vehicle. Internally it is shown that it is also important to model the seats in the vehicle. Overall good agreement between simulated and measured radiation patterns was found for both vertical and horizontal polarizations but some nulls were not predicted.
