Abstract :
A cavity-backed antenna for time domain operation within FCC approved frequency band for UWB communications has been designed. The antenna is based on an elliptically-shaped dipole. A non-absorbent back shield for this antenna is proposed and optimised numerically. The shield decreases an antenna back radiation by at least 20dB, increases antenna gain by 6dB and at the same time doesn´t influence the antenna radiation patterns and the antenna matching to the generator.
