Abstract :
An experimental research at 58 GHz band with V polarization has been carrying out on two experimental paths. The first path length is about 850 m, the second one is about 760 m. These two paths are nearly perpendicular each other. Meteorological conditions were identified both by means of video colour camera images of the space between the transmitter site and the receiver one, and of data obtained from a weather observing system. Every recorded individual attenuation event was analysed and the reason of the attenuation event was exactly identified. The monthly cumulative distributions of attenuation due to hydrometeors obtained on the mentioned paths for the first period of observation from July 2004 to June 2005 and for the second period of observation from July 2005 to June 2006 are presented. The cumulative distributions of attenuation due to hydrometeors are compared with the calculated cumulative distributions of attenuation due to rain only according to the relevant ITU-R recommendations. The obtained cumulative distributions of attenuation due to hydrometeors for the diversity reception are given too. The obtained angle diversity characteristics, i.e. the diversity gain and the diversity improvement are also presented. The results obtained are discussed.
