Abstract :
The proposed paper concerns the reduction of computational complexity on the estimation of prediction modes in intra frame from H.263 to H.264 streams transcoding process. Aim of this work is to achieve the possibility of communication between different video coding systems using distinct video codecs. In this paper we proposed a combination of two new algorithms for reusing of H.263 prediction mode in H.264 intra coding. Performance in term of PSNR of our algorithms are compared to the full transcoding approach. A high correlation between PSNR scores is obtained, with a significant reduction of computational burden.
