Abstract :
The utilization of fuel cells for stand alone and distributed power generation requires the development of a low loss voltage source inverter that converts a fuel cell´s variable DC output into a fixed useful AC. This work is based on a double DC boost stage and a conventional bridge output inverter stage. The DC input from the fuel cell is boosted from 40 V at full load to 300 VDC and is fed to the inverter to provide output stage of 230 V AC with frequency of 50 Hz. Design topology will explain how the inverter operates in order to cater the change of the inverter load and the voltage drop characteristic of the fuel cell.
