Abstract :
This paper proposed a novel hybrid cascade multilevel converter in which a Neutral-Point-Clamped (NPC) converter and several identical H-Bridge converters with equal dc bus voltage are series connected to form a converter phase leg. Accordingly, for the novel converter a hybrid modulation method which incorporates square-wave synthesis in conjunction with triangle carried-based PWM method is employed. For the NPC converter, the neutral-point balance problem is analyzed and solved by a Bang-Bang control method. Digital controller design which is the parallel connection of PD control and repetitive control is presented. Simulation and experiment results are provided.
