Abstract
Compact and broadband room temperature receivers are a critical technology for future planetary missions. We report on a room temperature mixer covering the 520 to 600 GHz range with better than 5000 K DSB noise temperature. The receiver front end consists of a bias-able sub-harmonically pumped Schottky mixer and a balanced six anode tripler, both chips made on membrane substrates. This front end in combination with digital backends can provide a low-power, compact, and broadband receiver for future applications.
